This is an old revision of the document!

The engraved data are not positioned correctly on the plate.

if your engraved data are not correctly positioned on the plate, you might want to re-calibrate the home position of the machine.
To determine if there is a positioning problem, proceed as follows:
1. Engrave a rectangle on a plate with a fine tipped cutter. The plate size is not important, but make sure the upper left corner of the rectangle is 5.0 mm from the left and 5.0 mm from the top plate border.
2. After engraving the rectangle measure the real distance between the left side of the rectangle (the centre of the line) and the left plate border. If that size is 5.0 mm you do not need to change the X-motor calibration.
3. Then measure the distance between the top side of the rectangle (the centre of the line) and the top plate border. If that size is 5.0 mm you do not need to change the Y-motor calibration.
4. If any of these two dimensions are either too big or too small, you have to re-calibrate the home position of the machine.

To re-calibrate the X-axis home position, proceed as follows

Image Description
{afbeeldingIf there is an engraving plate and/or a Multimat on the engraving table, remove them.
{afbeeldingRemove the depth regulator nose from the spindle.
{afbeeldingJog the spindle some distance away from the upper left corner, both in the X and the Y directions.
{afbeeldingJog the Z-axis (the spindle) down till there is about 15 mm distance to the table surface.
After that put an engraving cutter in the spindle.
It will be sticking out of the spindle at the bottom.
Loosen the cutter knob screw and push the cutter through the spindle till its tip is as close as possible to the table surface, but without touching it.
{afbeeldingSwitch off the machine using the mainswitch.
{afbeeldingGently rotate the black knob on the back side of the X-axis stepper motor till the flat side of the cutter is well aligned with the left table stop.
{afbeeldingNow check if the finely engraved line on this knob corresponds with the engraved line on the indicator plate. If that is not the case, loosen the black knob and rotate it to properly align it with the engraved indicator plate.
{afbeeldingRe-tighthen this knob.

To re-calibrate the Y-axis home position the procedure to follow is the same:

* If there is an engraving plate and/or a Multimat on the engraving table, remove them.
* Remove the depth regulator nose from the spindle.
* Jog the spindle some distance away from the upper left corner, both in the X and the Y directions.
* Jog the Z-axis (the spindle) down till there is about 15 mm distance to the table surface.
* Switch off the machine using the mainswitch.
* Put an engraving cutter in the spindle. It will be sticking out of the spindle at the bottom.
* Loosen the cutter knob and push the cutter through the spindle till its tip is as close as possible to the table surface, but without touching it.
* Gently rotate the black knob on the back side of the Y-axis stepper motor till the flat side of the cutter is well aligned with the top table stop.
* Now check if the finely engraved line on this knob corresponds with the engraved line on the indicator plate. If that is not the case, loosen the black knob and rotate it to properly align it with the engraved indicator plate.
* Re-tighthen this knob.
